JENAN

JENAN WALKED WITH DRENNA to the training camp. The Squad Leader was delighted to see the young shepherd again, but she had duties that morning, so Jenan had to wait for her until the afternoon. He didn’t mind waiting. This was his path now.

“I want to introduce you to the Telax myself,” explained Drenna. She was followed by her horse, Starmane, a stocky mare with a light brown coat and a white face and legs. “He’ll be impressed. We haven’t had a trainee who fought raiders before, let alone who saved the life of an Arrow Rider.”

Jenan shrugged. He didn’t think of his actions during the raid as especially brave or worthy. But he was grateful to have Drenna’s support.
